
Hungarian Chicken Paprikash – Don’t Lose This Recipe!
Ingredients:
- 1 kg (2.2 lb) chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, or mixed)
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2–3 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1 green pepper (optional)
- 200 ml (¾ cup + 1 tbsp) sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 200–300 ml (¾–1¼ cup) water or chicken broth

Instructions:
Mix sour cream with flour (if using) and stir into the sauce. Simmer gently for a few more minutes.
Heat oil in a large pot and sauté onions until soft and golden.
Remove from heat, stir in paprika quickly, then add a splash of water.
Add chicken pieces, garlic, tomato, and pepper. Season with salt and black pepper.
Add water or broth, cover, and simmer for 35–45 minutes until chicken is tender.
