Hungarian Meatballs (Fasírt)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500 g) ground pork or beef (or mix)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup milk or water
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp marjoram (optional)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix meat, onion, garlic, egg, soaked breadcrumbs, paprika, salt, pepper, and marjoram.
  3. Form small meatballs or oval patties.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry meatballs until golden brown on all sides and cooked through (about 8–10 minutes).
  6. Drain on paper towels.

Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, pickles, or fresh bread 🇭🇺🍽️
