
🇭🇺 Hungarian Chicken Recipe (Simple Paprika Chicken / Paprikás Csirke Style)
🧾 Ingredients:
- 800 g chicken (bone-in thighs or mixed pieces)
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 tomato (chopped) or 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 green pepper (chopped)
- 250 ml chicken broth or water
- 150–200 ml sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste)

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Cook onions:
Heat oil in a pot and cook onions slowly until soft and lightly golden.
- Add paprika:
Remove from heat and stir in paprika to avoid burning.
- Add chicken:
Return to heat and add chicken pieces. Stir to coat in the onion-paprika base.
- Add vegetables:
Add garlic, tomato, and green pepper. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer:
Pour in broth, cover, and cook on low heat for 35–45 minutes until chicken is tender.
- Make it creamy:
Mix sour cream with flour (optional), then stir into the sauce. - Simmer gently for a few minutes (do not boil).
