
🧾 Ingredients:
For the layers:
- 2 sheets puff pastry
For the custard filling:
- 1 liter milk
- 6 egg yolks
- 150 g sugar
- 100 g cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the meringue (optional but traditional):
- 6 egg whites
- 100 g sugar
For topping:
- Powdered sugar

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Bake pastry:
Roll out puff pastry and bake two sheets separately at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until golden. Let cool.
- Make custard:
Heat milk in a pot. - In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla.
- Slowly pour hot milk into the mixture while stirring, then return everything to the pot.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth.
- Prepare meringue (optional):
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar and beat until stiff. - Gently fold the meringue into the hot custard for a lighter texture.
- Assemble:
Place one pastry sheet in a pan. - Spread the warm custard evenly.
- Place the second pastry sheet on top.
- Chill:
Refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours until set.
- Dust with powdered sugar before slicing.
