🍑 Hungarian Plum Dumplings (Szilvásgombóc)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g potatoes (peeled)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (approx.)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8–10 plums (pitted)
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

For coating:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2–3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions:

  1. Boil potatoes until soft, mash, and let cool.
  2. Mix mashed potatoes with egg, butter, salt, and flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll dough out and cut into squares.
  4. Place a plum in each square, fill with a little sugar and cinnamon, and seal into dumplings.
  5. Bring salted water to a boil and cook dumplings until they float (about 5–7 minutes).
  6. In a pan, melt butter, add breadcrumbs, and toast until golden; stir in sugar.
  7. Roll cooked dumplings in the breadcrumb mixture.

Serve warm, optionally with extra sugar or sour cream.
