β INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lbs (900 g) beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika (essential!)
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional, traditional)
- 1β2 bell peppers, diced
- 2 medium tomatoes, diced (or 1 cup canned)
- 4 cups beef broth (1 liter)
- 2β3 potatoes, cubed
- 2 carrots, sliced
- Salt & pepper to taste
Optional additions:
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- Β½ tsp hot paprika or chili flakes
- Dumplings or egg noodles for serving
