Hungarian Cheese Puff Pastry Bites (Sajtos Pogácsa)

Ingredients

  • 500 g puff pastry (or pogácsa dough)
  • 150 g grated cheese (cheddar or Hungarian trappista)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry to about 1 cm thick.
  3. Cut into small squares or cubes.
  4. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  6. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  7. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Let cool slightly and serve warm.
