
Ingredients:
For the layers:
- 2 sheets puff pastry
For the custard:
- 4 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp butter
For the top:
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Optional cream layer:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)

Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the puff pastry sheets separately until golden and crisp. Let cool.
- Heat milk in a pot until warm (not boiling).
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
- Slowly pour warm milk into the mixture while whisking.
- Return mixture to the pot and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla and butter, and mix well.
- Place one puff pastry sheet in a pan, spread the hot custard evenly.
- (Optional) Add a layer of whipped cream on top of the custard.
- Cover with the second pastry sheet.
- Chill for at least 3–4 hours until set.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
