π Ingredients
Meatballs
- 1 lb (450 g) ground pork or beef (or mix)
- Β½ cup breadcrumbs
- ΒΌ cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- Β½ tsp black pepper
- ΒΎ tsp salt
- Β½ tsp marjoram (optional but traditional)
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- Oil, for frying
Optional Paprika Sauce
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- Β½ cup sour cream

- Prepare the Mixture
- Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 2 minutes.
- Add meat, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, pepper, marjoram, and parsley.
- Mix gently (do not overwork).
- Shape
- Form walnut-sized meatballs with wet hands.
- Cook
Option A β Frying:- Fry in oil over medium heat until golden on all sides.
Option B β Boiling (Traditional): - Simmer in lightly salted water or broth for 12β15 minutes.
- Fry in oil over medium heat until golden on all sides.
- Paprika Sauce (Optional but Classic)
- Heat oil, stir in flour.
- Remove from heat, add paprika.
- Whisk in broth and simmer until thick.
- Stir in sour cream (do not boil).
- Serve
- Add meatballs to sauce and warm gently.
