Hungarian Rigó Jancsi – Don’t Lose This Recipe!

Ingredients:

Sponge:

  • 5 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 130 g flour
  • 20 g cocoa powder

Cream filling:

  • 500 ml whipping cream
  • 100–150 g dark chocolate
  • 1–2 tbsp sugar (optional)

Glaze:

  • 100–150 g dark chocolate
  • 1–2 tbsp oil or butter

Instructions:

  1. Beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add flour and cocoa, mix gently.
  3. Bake in a tray at 180°C until cooked, then cool completely.
  4. Whip cream and melt chocolate, then mix together for filling.
  5. Cut sponge in half.
  6. Spread cream filling on one layer and cover with second layer.
  7. Melt chocolate with a little oil and pour over the top.
  8. Chill in fridge, then cut into squares.
