🇭🇺 Hungarian Bőrpörkölt with Homemade Grated Tarhonya – Don’t Lose This Recipe!


👨‍🍳 Instructions

Prepare the Bőrpörkölt:

  1. Heat the lard or oil in a large pot and sauté the onions until golden.
  2. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the paprika.
  3. Add the garlic, tomato, and bell pepper, then mix well.
  4. Add the pork skin pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour in the water or broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Cover and cook over low heat for 1½–2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the pork skin becomes tender and the sauce thickens.
  7. Add a little extra water if needed during cooking.

Prepare the Homemade Tarhonya:

  1. Mix the eggs, flour, and salt into a firm dough.
  2. Using a coarse grater, grate the dough onto a tray.
  3. Let the grated dough dry for 20–30 minutes.
  4. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the tarhonya for 8–10 minutes, or until tender.
  5. Drain well.
