
Ingredients:
- 1 kg freshwater fish (carp preferred, cut into pieces)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 onions (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp Hungarian paprika
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- 1 bell pepper (chopped)
- 1â2 cloves garlic (optional)
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- œ tsp black pepper
- 1â1.5 liters water
- 1 tsp hot paprika or chili (optional, for heat)

Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pot and sauté onions until soft.
- Remove from heat, stir in paprika quickly (donât burn it).
- Add tomato, bell pepper, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil.
- Add fish pieces and simmer gently for 30â40 minutes (do not stir too much).
- Taste and adjust seasoning; add hot paprika if desired.
- Serve hot with bread.
