
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1½ lbs (700 g) beef stew meat (cubed)
- 1 large onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Hungarian paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
- 1 bell pepper (chopped)
- 1 tomato (chopped) or 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 carrots (sliced)
- 2 potatoes (cubed)
- 4 cups (1 L) beef broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot and brown the beef.
- Add onion and cook until soft.
- Stir in garlic and paprika (remove from heat briefly to avoid burning).
- Add bell pepper, tomato, carrots, potatoes, and caraway seeds.
- Pour in beef broth, season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 60–90 minutes until beef is tender.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
Serve as a hearty soup/stew with bread.
